We try a Cacao Pod for the first time, the fruit that cacao beans come from, which are used in the production of chocolate.
It was not what I expected! The pulp had a sweet mangoy-coconuty taste. The fresh beans were fantastic. I enjoy bitter, high cacao percent chocolate, so it was great to try fresh cacao beans for the first time.
I’ll be experimenting with growing them in the garden from seed. Theobroma Cacao prefers a climate around the equator, so I’ll be pushing my growing zone in 10a to get results. Wish me luck.
